It is already done on that the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan is very much concerned about the ongoing theatres issue. He is frustrated by the fact that certain indicate in Tollywood has resulted in such a pathetic situation for the distribution industry.

In this context, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan emphasized the need for proper regulation and management of cinema halls across Andhra Pradesh. He stated that ticket price hikes for new releases must be routed only through the Telugu Film Chamber, not by individual producers. Even for his own film Hari Hara Veera Mallu, he insisted the same process should be followed without bias.

He stressed that food and beverage prices in theatres, including water bottles, popcorn, and soft drinks, must be regulated. The government has received complaints of monopoly in the sale of these items in multiplexes and single screens. The Cinematography Department has been instructed to investigate pricing, quality standards, and take corrective measures.

Pawan Kalyan asserted that clean drinking water and sanitation facilities are the minimum responsibility of theatre owners, and local bodies must enforce compliance. Lower food prices could increase footfall, ultimately boosting tax revenue.

On the issue of cinema hall shutdowns, he discussed reports of political involvement. It was noted that some producers publicly distanced themselves from the shutdowns, while others alleged a Jana Sena leader’s role. The Deputy CM urged a fair investigation, even if individuals from his party were involved.

He condemned threats or coercive practices in the film industry and reassured stakeholders that the government aims to create a healthy, transparent business environment. He also asked film bodies like MAA, Directors’ Association, and the Film Chamber to provide suggestions for the upcoming comprehensive film development policy.
