The deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, who also is a superstar in Telugu cinema has had a very interesting comment on the ticket price hikes. This is what he had to say, while speaking on this matter at the Ustaad Bhagat Singh promotional event.

The Deputy Chief Minister has clearly addressed the issue of movie ticket price hikes, stating that watching a film is not a necessity but a personal choice.

He explained that going to a movie is entirely up to the audience. People can decide whether they want to watch a film in theatres or not, and therefore the pricing should also be viewed in that context.

The Deputy Chief Minister also pointed out that a portion of every rupee collected from movie tickets goes to the government in the form of taxes. Because of this, the increase in ticket prices should not automatically be seen as exploitation.

According to him, the film industry contributes to the economy through entertainment taxes and other revenues, which ultimately benefit the government as well. Hence, he stressed that discussions around ticket price hikes should be balanced and should not be framed purely from the angle of exploitation of audiences.

His remarks come amid ongoing debates about rising cinema ticket prices and the financial pressures faced by the film industry while producing and releasing big budget films.
