It is an established fact that the Telugu audience are very encouraging of other language films if they come with the content. However, there is a burning controversy happening surrounding Kantara and it has led to divisions.

Notably, Pawan Kalyan’s OG faced a contradictory situation in Karnataka as ticket price hikes weren’t permitted and there was also opposition for the release by the local Kannada folk.

The context involves tensions between Kannada and Telugu film industries. Some Telugu fans called for boycotting Kantara Chapter 1 due to perceived restrictions on Telugu films in Karnataka, like no ticket price hikes and screening issues for Pawan Kalyan's OG.

In this context, Andhra Pradesh, deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan issued a public communication and here is a look into the same.

Cinema, music, sports, and cultural arts are not bound by language, region, caste, or religion. Their true purpose is to entertain and bring people together.

Unfortunately, a few individuals with personal agendas tried to block the Telugu film OG in Karnataka, just as they attempted with some other Telugu films earlier. In the same way, some are now trying to oppose the Kannada film Kantara in our Telugu states, which is not fair.

Art and cinema should create joy and connect cultures, not divide them. Everyone has the freedom to watch any movie they like. If you don’t like a film, simply avoid it, but don’t let personal hatred or agendas affect cinema.

Today, Indian films across languages are being celebrated globally and winning appreciation. At such a time, restricting films based on regional or linguistic bias must be strongly discouraged. Let us support and encourage good cinema, no matter the language, Kalyan stated.

It is good that Pawan Kalyan is very generous about this film, despite the odd situation that OG had faced in Karnataka. This is the kind of maturity that’s expected from a seasoned politician.
