Peddi Is Over - What About Percentage System?
Though many films like Maa Inti Bangaram, Rao Bahadhur and Naga Bandham came later on, none demanded a percentage from these movies.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 7 July 2026 1:23 PM ISTBefore the release of Ram Charan’s Peddi movie a month ago, the exhibitors from the Telangana region agitated big time, fighting tooth and nail with the system, demanding that they be allowed to release films only on a percentage basis.
Though many films like Maa Inti Bangaram, Rao Bahadhur and Naga Bandham came later on, none demanded a percentage from these movies. Now that the whole big film season is over, and might come up later in October, what are Telangana exhibitors up to now?
Apparently, Telangana Exhibitors are said to be looking forward to hiking the rents for theatres till the end of this year. Because the acting producers’ guild, which is said to have agreed to a percentage system earlier, has now claimed that it cannot implement the system for the current films in the production pipeline.
This is going to create another sensation, but Telangana Exhibitors are also facing remarks that they agitated only when Mythri’s Peddi was released, but not when other players belonging to Telangana distributed movies like Maa Inti Bangaram and Rao Bahadhur.
A report is emerging that some of them have met Megastar Chiranjeevi again, and discussed things, but haven’t given assurances on things like implementing a transparent ticketing system in theatres, as it was being accused by active producers that many theatre owners are reporting incorrect ticket sale numbers.
It looks like currently the ‘percentage system’ debate has slowed down a little, but picks up steam when another big film like Fauzi comes into the picture.
