Did The Title Work Against 'Pedha Kapu'?

'Pedha Kapu' released on 29th September. Prior to its release, the teaser and trailer generated good buzz on the movie but the openings were very poor which surprised everyone. While the talk comes after the morning shows, people were not that interested in watching the movie in theatres right from the beginning.

The producer is trying to find out the exact reason for the film's failure and the feedback he got is about only one thing which is the movie's title. Apparently, the name 'Pedha Kapu' was a big minus as many thought that the movie was about 'Kapu' community. While the real meaning of 'Pedha Kapu' is different, the director kept it for a separate reason, the audience did not take the title well. Looking at the director Srikanth Addala and the title, they decided that it is about a particular caste. Sources say that it is the reason for the lack of openings and word of mouth did not help at all. This is why the film ended up in big losses.

Movies like 'Justice Chowdhary', 'Narasimha Naidu', 'Veera Simha Reddy' and others that have a caste in their name worked out well but the same did not happen for 'Pedha Kapu' which is quite interesting. The political touch in the movie and the title made the audience feel that it might have something controversial which is not the case. But it was the producer who got severely affected by this and there might not be a second part for this film as planned before.
