However, two Hindi movies are arriving just one day later. This could become a major challenge for Fauzi, especially in the Hindi market.
Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha is scheduled to release on December 4. On the same day, Akshay Kumar’s Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Sankrantiki Vasthunnam is also expected to reach theatres. With three big films coming almost together, the competition could be interesting.
Among these movies, Eetha may become an important competitor for Fauzi in Maharashtra. The film brings together producer Dinesh Vijan and director Laxman Utekar. They previously worked together on Chhaava, which became a major success. Laxman Utekar is also known for successful films, while Shraddha has a strong following after movies like Stree 2.
Shraddha is reportedly playing a strong role in Eetha. Randeep Hooda and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub are also part of the movie. The early response to the teaser has reportedly been positive. The film’s local setting and Shraddha’s popularity could help it connect well with audiences in Maharashtra.
Interestingly, Shraddha and Prabhas have already worked together in Saaho. Now, they are set to compete with each other at the box office. While Fauzi has a much bigger star in Prabhas, Eetha could still attract audiences with its content and regional appeal.
Akshay Kumar’s film could also become a strong competitor. The remake of Sankrantiki Vasthunnam is expected to target family audiences. Akshay’s popularity in the Hindi market could help the film perform well.
Fauzi is being made on a big scale and has strong pan-India expectations. The movie will need good business from the Hindi market along with the Telugu states and other regions.
Prabhas remains the biggest star among these three films. However, star power alone cannot guarantee a blockbuster. The trailer, songs, story, reviews and audience response will play an important role.
For now, Fauzi looks like the biggest film in this December clash. But with Eetha and Akshay Kumar’s movie arriving immediately after it, Prabhas will have a real box-office challenge. The coming months will show whether Fauzi can turn its huge expectations into a pan-India success.
