Like a cracker that refuses to stop bursting, Dude has set the box office on fire this Diwali.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 21 Oct 2025 3:38 PM ISTLike a cracker that refuses to stop bursting, Dude has set the box office on fire this Diwali. Tamil star Pradeep Ranganathan seems to be riding one crazy wave after another. His first two films Love Today and Dragon already went past 100 crores, and now his third one, Dude, is racing toward the same mark. In just four days, it’s pulled in a massive 83 crores worldwide. Among all the Diwali releases across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, this one is clearly leading the show, no second thoughts there.
The film kicks off with full-on energy. The first half feels young, a little messy in a fun way, and has that rom-com warmth people expect from Pradeep. Jokes land naturally, scenes move fast, and there’s this nice mix of humor and mild emotion that doesn’t feel too heavy. You can tell it’s made for the youth but still keeps a family flavor somewhere in between. It’s the kind of movie you watch with popcorn and come out smiling.
Pradeep does what he does best, that boy-next-door charm again. Nothing too fancy, but it works. Mamitha Baiju shines next to him; she’s dubbed for herself this time, and that makes her voice feel real and unfiltered. There’s a small honesty in her tone that gives her character weight. And R. Sarathkumar, with all his screen presence, adds that grown-up strength the story needed. Together, they pull off a combo that keeps the vibe balanced, young but grounded.
The music and visuals click too. The songs have that easy vibe that sticks after the movie ends. The background score lifts a few emotional moments just right. The film tries to talk about love and emotional maturity in a fresh way, not perfect, but it connects. Looking at how fast the collections are rising, Dude seems ready to cross 100 crores before the weekend. For Pradeep, that’s probably three hits in a row, not bad at all for someone who just keeps it simple.
