By: Shanaz B Syed | 7 Oct 2025 12:26 PM ISTThe film industry is like a huge stage where rumours travel faster than scripts. Every time there is buzz about a project, it takes on a life of its own. Right now, all eyes are on the news of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth coming together after 46 years. It is a dream for Tamil cinema fans, and naturally, curiosity has swirled into speculation. Among those speculations was the name of Pradeep Ranganathan as the possible director. Recently, he chose to set the record straight, and the truth surprised many.
Pradeep, who is busy promoting his upcoming third movie after hits like Love Today and Dragon, said clearly that he is not involved. “I will not say whether I have been offered to direct that film or not. But, I am not a part of this project. Because right now I want to focus on acting more than directing,” he said. His statement was straightforward, but it carried weight because of the excitement surrounding the project. Pradeep made it clear that his heart is in exploring acting for now, and the Kamal-Rajinikanth multistarrer will not have him behind the camera.
The announcement of the film itself had already created huge waves. Kamal Haasan officially revealed it at the recent SIIMA Awards, adding fuel to the anticipation. When asked if this combination with Rajinikanth would happen, Kamal said, “It is good if the audience likes our combination. If they are happy, then we are happy too. We have been trying to act together for many years, we will come together for you soon. It will surprise you.” These words have made fans wait in eager anticipation, keeping the film in the spotlight.
For Pradeep, the moment was also personal. A self-confessed fan of Rajinikanth, he said, “I have seen the first day of the first performance of his films released so far. He praised me after the release of Dragon. I will never forget those words.” While he steps away from directing this massive project, his honesty and passion leave a mark. This revelation reminds the audience that behind the rumours, truth still finds a voice, sometimes in the simplest form.
