This movie projection facility has been around for many decades and has attended a massive following and loyal patronage over the years.
However, in the case of Allu Arjun’s latest theatrical outing, Pushpa 2, Prasads Multiplex avoided screening the film at their facility, and here is the reason why.
Usually, Prasads Multiplex gives 52% share of the theatrical revenue to the distributors. However, now Maitri movie makers wanted a whopping, 55% share in the revenue.
This was immediately turned down by the Prasad’s management who argued that the majority of their revenues come from cinema ticketing and not food and beverages, considering that they provide snacks and refreshment at a very nominal price when compared to other outlets in the city.
But my three movie makers were in no mood to Budge as they held firm on their demand to have 55% share in the revenue. These negotiations went on till the last minute, but sadly common ground could not be found, and in the end, the Multiplex dropped the proposal of screening, the film at their facility.
One might argue that three percentage difference is not a big deal, but what shall be noted here is that Prasads is putting out a power statement that they are not ready to budge on their demands. If they give additional share to Pushpa to producers now, then they will have to make adequate adjustments for future films as well, which will prove detrimental to the whole mechanism that they built over the years.
As a result, this is the first time in Prasads Multiplex history that they are not associated with the projection and exhibition of a superstar driven Telugu film.
