We usually see directors going to the very extreme to bring the very best out of their actors. This has historically happened with several male directors in the past as they have the reputation of doing the unthinkable to bring the very best from their actors.

But in this case, we have a lady director, who has gone to the extreme to create the right output with her rather inexperienced cast.

Filmmaker and doctor Praveena Paruchuri, who earlier produced critically acclaimed films like C/o Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, is now turning director with Kothapallilo Okappudu.

At the trailer launch, she shared her journey with the film, saying it was filled with ups and downs, and she even faced criticism and challenges. She said, “I had young actors playing male and female leads in my film. They are urban people and do not have the tenacity of playing rural characters. This is the reason why I used to shout at them and even throw stones while shooting in order to bring the very best from them.”

This surely is one interesting way to bring the very best from the actors, and it is interesting to note that the Lady Director went to such extremes for the same.

The trailer received a warm response for its rural setting, natural performances, and emotional moments. The film is a romantic comedy set in a village backdrop with fresh storytelling. New actors like Manoj Chandra and Monika T are playing the lead roles, while known faces like Ravindra Vijay and Banerjee are also part of the cast.

Produced by Rana Daggubati under Spirit Media, the movie releases on July 18. With music by Mani Sharma and cinematography by Los Angeles-based Petros Antoniadis, Kothapallilo Okappudu promises to be a simple yet heartwarming rural entertainer with a unique voice.
