We’re Delighted By The Huge Reception From Public: Praveena Paruchuri

A cardiologist by profession, Praveena Paruchuri ventured into films with the critically acclaimed C/o Kancharapalem, followed by Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya. She took on the director’s role for her third production venture, Kothapallilo Okappudu, which received a positive response.

Praveena Paruchuri showered praise on Manoj Chandra, Monika T, and Usha Bonela for their naturalistic performances. She admitted that getting opportunities as a newcomer is tough. “I was bullied for my physique and appearance during childhood. So, when I saw Usha, something clicked. She has this raw, natural grace in the way she moves, her dancing is effortless. But I did have doubts about her acting abilities. That’s why we held a workshop before shooting. Manoj joined us later and brought a different kind of energy to the film."

She added, “I can’t say whether the film will be a commercial success. That part is always uncertain. But what I can say is that I’m truly happy with the performances. The lead actors gave it their all. We’re delighted by the huge reception the movie has received from public."

Speaking about the Gaddi Vamu scene, she revealed, “We wanted complete authenticity. We actually hit Usha with a rock to capture a real reaction in that scene. Manoj had to go through more than 30 takes. Baba Master choreographed the sequence, and his touch really brought it to life."

In terms of budget, she affirmed, "We ended up spending 3 times more than the total budget of C/o Kancharapalem."
