ZEE5 platform has been coming up with fresh and interesting content over the past few years. They have teamed up with Abhishek Nama and made 'Prema Vimanam' which is a blend of two separate village stories. Starring a lot of talented artists, the trailer of 'Prema Vimanam' generated a very good buzz. Let us dive into the review straightaway to find out how the movie is.

Story:

Ramu (Devansh Nama) and Lachu (Anirudh Nama) are two innocent kids who dream of flying on a plane. Their father promises to take them on a flight but commits suicide as he couldn't repay the loan. Their mother Saantha works at a mill tirelessly in order to save their farm land from Shaukar. The two kids however still dream of flying on a plane and try different things to get the ticket money.

On the other hand, Kirana shop Mani (Sangeet Shobhan) and sarpanch's daughter Abhitha (Saanvee Megghana) love each other. But the difference in class and wealth become hurdles for their future. They plan to leave the village and go to Dubai in order to make a living. They need money for it. How these two stories collide with each other and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Over the past couple of years, the Telugu film industry has become more inclined to tell stories that are connected to the roots. Filmmakers are not hesitant towards making village stories and even big producers and heroes are showing interest in them. We have movies like 'Balagam', 'Jathi Ratnalu', 'Middle Class Melodies', 'Color Photo' and many more that touched the heart of the audience due to their natural characters and relatable emotions. Even though these movies did not have big stars in it, they won the appreciation of the viewers and ended up becoming hits. One such recent film that ZEE5 brought towards the audience is 'Prema Vimanam'.

The movie's basic plot was revealed in the trailer itself and the director had a huge task of engaging the people with his writing and execution. 'Prema Vimanam' begins slowly and takes its time to establish the characters and their conflict points. Though these scenes don't bore you, the movie runs at a very slow pace. But the movie gradually gets you involved in the proceedings and people start rooting for the characters. The story of two kids is adorable and emotional at the same time. The heavy emotions were dealt well by the director and their attempts to earn the money will surely touch the audience. Vennela Kishore's character was cleverly used in this storyline.

The much-needed entertainment and love story is presented through Sangeet Shoban's story. The actor showcased his ease in playing such a boy-next-door character and Saanvee too played her role very well. The director tried to make youth gets connected to the love track and but it is way too generic. Though the pair looks good, their love story lacks freshness. Also, topics like class and caste were not dealt with properly. The way the girl's father has a change of heart is highly unconvincing. The slow narration also dampens the flow at certain points and the entire book thread involving the present times makes the film lengthier. Also, the climax is way too convenient for one's liking and the twist at the end doesn't work out too. Also, there are a lot of scenes in this movie that remind us of other movies. 'Prema Vimanam' is an emotional tale that boasts of very good performances but snail pace and unconvincing love track plays the spoilsport. Give it a try when you are free!

Performances:

The two kids Devansh Nama and Anirudh Nama acted wonderfully. The innocence and pure determination to get what they want can be seen in their faces. Especially, the younger brother stole the show. Anasuya delivered an emotional performance and showcased her range as an actor once again. Ravi Varma made an impact in the short screen time he got. Vennela Kishore was decent and brought out a few laughs.

Sangeet Shobhan who impressed everyone with his performance big time in 'MAD' was amazing in this movie too. He perfectly fitted the simple boy-next-door look and his comedy timing along with charm worked out pretty well. Sanvee Megghana looked beautiful in a traditional half saree. She did a good job as well and the pair of Sangeet and Saanvee looked nice on the screen. Gopa Raju Ramana is natural in the father's role once again. The rest of the cast members too delivered very good performances.

Technicians:

'Prema Vimanam' is quite good on the technical front. Music by Anup Rubens is pleasing to the ears. The local flavour in the songs worked out well and each song blended into the screenplay. The songs enhance the mood of the film and the background music is very good as well. Jagadeesh Cheekati's camerawork is very natural and the beauty of the village is captured wonderfully. The frames are amazing and visuals are delightful. The production values are quite good as the makers put in what's required for a movie of this scale. The editing is decent though the movie slows down a bit during some episodes. Director Santosh Kata did make a very good impression as his writing is smooth and he captured the emotions quite well. The witty dialogues brought out the laughs from the audience and he even managed to extract good performances from all the actors. Had he taken care of the pace and chopped off a few unnecessary scenes, the movie would have been even better. 'Prema Vimanam' is a simple and emotional tale that is bogged down by unconvincing scenes and a slow pace.

Verdict: 'Prema Vimanam' - Good Performances But Sub Par Execution!

Rating: 2.25/5
