Priyamani’s Emotional Reveal On Film Remuneration
Priyamani also threw in a fun little comparison between the South and North film worlds.

Priyamani, who’s been winning hearts across languages, from Article 370 to The Family Man, recently opened up about one such reality. With new films like Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, G.D.N., and the Telugu project Saraswathi lined up, she spoke honestly about money, value, and what really matters to her in this crazy industry.
She didn’t sugarcoat it either. “I’ve taken less pay than my co-stars plenty of times,” she said, almost casually. “But I’ve never done a film just for the money. If a role feels right, I do it, small or big, doesn’t matter.” You can tell she’s someone who cares more about the craft than the numbers. “Of course, payment depends on where your stardom stands. But I never ask for more just for the sake of it. If I deserve it, I’ll say it, otherwise, I let my work do the talking,” she added. It’s a kind of calm confidence that comes only with experience.
Priyamani also threw in a fun little comparison between the South and North film worlds. “In the South, if the call time is 8 am, shooting actually starts at 8,” she laughed. “In the North, actors leave their homes at 8.” It’s a light jab, but you can sense the honesty there too, years of noticing things that only a seasoned actor would catch.
Right now, she’s neck-deep in projects, but what stands out is how grounded she sounds. Maybe that’s why people still remember her performances long after the film fades. That’s her real pay, the kind that doesn’t show up in bank accounts but stays in hearts.
