The team recently wrapped a schedule in Odisha’s hilly regions, and there's a solid reason behind choosing that location. The story, it seems, has deep ties to Odisha, and it’s not just for the visuals.
Rajamouli reportedly asked Priyanka to learn the traditional 'Mayurbhanj Chhau' dance, which plays a key part in the film. So, under the guidance of well-known artist Vicky Bhartiya, she trained in the form. It’s not just one dance sequence either; three different versions of it will appear in the film, woven into the plot. This isn’t just about adding culture for the sake of it; the dance connects directly to the story.
Vicky Bhartiya later shared his thoughts, saying Priyanka showed real commitment. “She was focused and open to learning. Just someone who wanted to get it right,” he said. It’s not every day a mainstream actress throws herself into learning a classical dance just for a few scenes, but then again, this isn’t a regular film.
Earlier buzz said SSMB29 was an African jungle treasure hunt. Now, with Odisha’s cultural elements showing up, things seem to be shifting. Whether it’s jungle trails or ancient rituals, only Rajamouli knows where it’s all headed. But one thing’s clear, Priyanka’s not here for a cameo. She’s putting in the work.
