Is Puri Jagannadh Betting on Another Sequel After Back-to-Back Flops?

Puri Jagannadh was once a blockbuster director in Tollywood known for delivering industry hits like Bhadri, Pokiri and Businessman. His unique way of storytelling made him an inspiration for many young filmmakers. However, his recent films have not been as successful.

In the past few years, Puri Jagannadh has faced back-to-back failures. Though iSmart Shankar was a hit, his recent films Liger starring Vijay Deverakonda and Double iSmart starring Ram failed at the box office. These setbacks have led him to take a break and focus on new scripts.

Surprisingly, despite Double iSmart’s failure, Puri Jagannadh is reportedly working on another sequel. As per sources, he is planning a sequel to Golimaar that featured Gopichand in the lead role and was a decent success. As per the reports, he recently discussed the idea with Gopichand who is said to be excited about reuniting with the director.

Bellamkonda Suresh is expected to produce Golimaar 2. While Puri Jagannadh has worked on multiple scripts post Double iSmart, he seems to have chosen Golimaar 2 as his next project. Meanwhile Gopichand is also in discussions for two other films one directed by Jil fame Radha Krishna Kumar and another by Sankalp Reddy. It is unclear which project will begin first and an official announcement is awaited.

Gopichand like Puri Jagannadh has also faced continuous flops in recent years. If this collaboration materializes, it will be interesting to see if they can make a strong comeback.
