Legal Trouble for Pushpa 2? PIL Filed in HC!
Advocate Narasimha Rao, who filed the PIL, argues that the film generated enormous revenue due to special government permissions for increased ticket prices and extra benefit shows.
By: Tupaki Desk | 10 March 2025 5:32 PM ISTAfter the shocking stampede at the benefit shows of Pushpa 2: The Rule, the film’s team was already dealing with a tough situation. But now, another controversy has surfaced, bringing legal trouble to the blockbuster film. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Telangana High Court, demanding a share of the film’s massive profits be allocated for folk artists' pensions and short film subsidies.
Directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Pushpa 2: The Rule has set new records at the Indian box office, reportedly collecting over ₹1870 crores worldwide. Advocate Narasimha Rao, who filed the PIL, argues that the film generated enormous revenue due to special government permissions for increased ticket prices and extra benefit shows. He questioned why the government allowed such exemptions without proper justification and urged the court to ensure that a portion of the earnings is used for public welfare.
The case has sparked debate in the industry, with some supporting the demand for financial aid to struggling artists, while others believe filmmakers should not be forced to share their profits. The court’s decision on this matter could set a precedent for future big-budget releases in India.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun is gearing up for his next projects, collaborating with renowned directors Atlee and Trivikram.
