By: Shanaz B Syed | 20 July 2026 4:24 PM ISTThe other day, the 72nd National Film Awards were announced by the Government of India, honouring the bright and creative talents from all the tinsel towns of the nation. However, some awards chosen by the jury aren’t so impressive, as people on social media started discussing certain awards, especially the one given to Pushpa 2.
While director Sukumar won the Best Screenplay award for Pushpa 2, it’s surprising that the film also won the Best Costume Design, with Deepali Noor and Sheetal Sharma walking away with honours. In fact, the same year, there was the film “Kalki 2898 AD”, which hit cinemas and also won the “Best Popular Cinema”. In fact, the costumes designed for Kalki, which are quite dystopian in nature, are actually the best when compared to the costumes of Pushpa 2. Many are wondering why the jury picked Kalki over Pushpa 2 in the costumes department.
There are some other discussions too regarding the awards, but the one on the costumes is actually sparking a lot of debate. Many people are sharing the visuals from the songs of Pushpa 2, like Peelings and others, and comparing them with the costumes in Kalki 2898 AD and asking the audience as to how Kalki lost the game.
On the other hand, many thought that Allu Arjun would win the Best Actor award again, but surprisingly, Karthik Aryan has grabbed it for Chandu Champion.
