These days, many Bollywood films have been going directly to OTT by skipping the theatrical release due to various reasons, including the declining footfalls in theatres. One such new Bollywood film that went this way is Bhool Chuk Maaf which has Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles.

The makers of this film had communicated that it would be skipping theatrical release and arriving directly on OTT very soon.

However, this decision from the makers of this film was not taken very lightly by PVR Inox, who had filed a lawsuit in return to the decision taken by the makers. They have filed a lawsuit for ₹60 crore against the makers of this romcom.

The argument from PVR Inox is that they had reportedly spent a big amount of money on the marketing material and also the promotional strategies of this film.

The cinema exhibition chain claimed that they had spent a lot of money and resources on the marketing and branding of this film at their screening facilities across the country. They have claimed damages worth Rs 60 crore in response to the same.

However, the people who are associated with this film are saying that the producers usually allocate in the range of ₹25 crore for the promotional campaign of a film and what PVR is asking for is beyond obnoxious.

The makers are clearly shocked by the kind of decision that has been taken by the makers of this romantic comedy and hence, things are not looking very promising for those involved. It has to be seen what kind of a deal that will be struck now in view of this prevailing situation.
