Many Wolves Following Allu Arjun’s Raaka

One film brings a werewolf. Suddenly, everyone wants one. Looks like that’s what is happening in Tollywood right now. Superstar Allu Arjun’s Raaka hasn’t even been released yet, but the effect is already visible. A werewolf setup, a darker fantasy tone, something different from regular mass films, has impressed with the first poster of Raaka. And quickly, the industry is reacting.

As per reports, hero Ram Pothineni is now said to be doing a similar story. It has already come out that he has registered the title ‘The Lone Wolf’ regarding the same, though nothing was announced in this regard. At the same time, the Malayalam superhit film, Lokah Universe, is also moving in that fantasy-wolverine space, with actors like Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan coming in. This is not random. This is how the industry works. When one thing clicks, many tend to follow the same without any reason to worry. We’ve seen this before. After one hit, suddenly many gangster films pops up. Then pan-India action films. Then horror-comedy wave. Most of them don’t last long, however.

On paper, this trend looks exciting. In reality, it’s risky we have to say. Fantasy needs strong writing, good VFX, and clear vision. You can’t depend only on hero elevation here. That’s where Lokah succeeded as they got the narrative right and convincing, rather than depending on elevation shots and punch lines. We have to see if all these wolverine stories being cooked up right now, can deliver to that level, and live up to the expectations. Until then, we can say, many wolves are following Raaka, while everyone one of them has to prove at the box office.
