RaaKaaSa Debuts On Netflix: What’s Next?

Exactly four weeks after its theatrical release on April 3rd, Niharika Konidela’s first-ever big-ticket production, RaaKaaSa has finally made its OTT debut. The film is now streaming in four languages on Netflix, thus giving audiences the much-needed binge-watching content for the May 1st weekend. Let’s have a look at how this film opened, how it performed and what’s going to happen now.

RaaKaaSa is a comedy horror film with a touch of fantasy, produced by Niharika Konidela, featuring the likes of Sangeeth Shobhan, Nayan Sarika, Vennela Kishore, and Getup Sreenu in crucial roles. The film is directed by Manasa Sharma, who has amassed a huge following during the movie's promotions. Producer Niharika and her hero Sangeeth have done the best during the promotions, doing some crazy videos and uniquely promoting the film. All the promotional videos they have done, along with Getup Sreenu, have got a massive response and large viewership. However, when the film was released, it got minimal reviews due to the routine content if featured. So, how were the collections?

In fact, the film has collected more than ₹22 crores gross in its full run for nearly two weeks at the box office. While the breakeven target for the film is at approximately ₹ 13.5 crores, it has roughly made around ₹12 crores share, thus causing minor losses to some parties. However, as a producer, Niharika Konidela is said to have amassed massive profits from the movie, thanks to the Netflix deal. Now that the film has debuted on OTT, many are wondering if it will repeat a sort of success on the OTT platform too.

Back then, films that used to run good or bad at the box office used to be trending on the top charts for a week upon OTT release. However, despite trending in the first 3 slots on Netflix, movies like Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Youth haven’t made noise on social media even after they debuted on Netflix. With the trends changing like this, if RaaKaaSa makes noise on Netflix now, that would be another major win for Niharika’s production company.
