Rajamouli Vs Cameron: Just Payback Or Future Arrangement?

The recent video of India’s ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli and Hollywood’s legend James Cameron interacting over a video session to promote the latter’s this Friday release, Avatar 3, has sparked an interesting debate.

Many are wondering if this is a simple act of payback, or the beginning of a larger collaboration between the two of the world’s biggest and celebrated filmmakers, SS Rajamouli and James Cameron.

Rajamouli’s support for Avatar 3, including hosting a video interview with Cameron, has surprised many. But also, it reminds us of the time when James Cameron openly praised RRR and endorsed the film during its Oscar campaign.

Along with Stephen Spielberg, the Titanic and Avatar director’s appreciation worked big time in favour of the movie. For the same reason, some see Rajamouli’s promotion for Avatar 3 as a gesture of gratitude. He’s simply acknowledging Cameron’s earlier backing.

However, there is also another exciting possibility that this could signal as a future arrangement. As James Cameron already questioned Rajamouli about his upcoming film Varanaasi and all, it looks like Cameron will be joining the promotional bandwagon of the film at that time.

This kind of cross-promotion would significantly elevate Indian cinema’s global presence. Though it remains to be seen if the Rajamouli-Cameron combo is just professional courtesy or the groundwork for future collaboration, surely their combo is exciting.
