SS Rajamouli Declares Theatres Stronger Than OTT Now
A theatre is like a festival ground. The screen lights up, the crowd jumps, and the noise itself becomes part of the film.
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 Aug 2025 10:26 PM ISTA theatre is like a festival ground. The screen lights up, the crowd jumps, and the noise itself becomes part of the film. SS Rajamouli says this energy is something OTT can never bring, no matter how many languages or shows they offer.
The buzz around SSMB 29 makes his words even stronger. Superstar Mahesh Babu is stepping into a jungle adventure, a Pan-India release set to storm cinemas worldwide. Rumours say the title could be Globetrotter or maybe Gen 63. To mark Mahesh’s 50th birthday, the first look will be revealed this November. Fans are already treating it like a festival.
Rajamouli, while talking about the film, also explained why the theatre still rules. “When Bollywood top Salman Khan or Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth appear in that first shot, theatres shake with whistles and shouts. That madness doesn’t happen on OTT,” he said. According to him, cinema is about the shared thrill, not just about watching in silence.
With SSMB 29, Rajamouli seems ready to recreate that madness again. The film is being planned to pull people back into theatres, to clap, whistle, and celebrate. At a time when OTT feels routine, this could be the big-screen storm fans are waiting for.
