Middle East War Is Not Stopping Mahesh & Rajamouli

By: Shanaz B Syed | 9 March 2026 11:36 AM ISTSuperstar Mahesh Babu's next project, being directed by the legendary filmmaker SS Rajamouli, the film Varanasi, is on a shooting spree owing to the release-day deadlines.
Actually, many filmmakers who want to go to Europe to shoot their movies got stuck back home because most of the flights go via Dubai, and currently, the largest number of airlines have shut down this route due to the brewing war in the Middle East.
However, after wrapping their shoot in Georgia, Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, and his team have safely returned to India through non-Dubai routes, which actually costs them a huge amount for the logistics.
And now they're planning to go for another Antarctica schedule just within a month's gap. For this, they will be flying to South America directly, and from there, they might take the Antarctica route through a special cruise ship with all the actors, extras, technicians and the equipment. Looks like the war in the Middle East is not going to affect Rajamouli's plans to bring Varanasi on April 7, 2020.
While film shooting will be done under strict rules in Antarctica, not many big productions have secured permission earlier to shoot on the site in this continent where sub-zero temperatures are the norm. Varanasi is the first big-ticket movie to get grand permission to shoot in this ice-cold continent.
Featuring the likes of Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran and others, Varanasi has already made heads turn with its glimpse video released by Rajamouli earlier. The whole of India and Hollywood is also looking forward to this movie now.
