By: Shanaz B Syed | 1 Jun 2026 3:52 PM ISTAfter realising that he couldn’t pull of both the box office numbers and also the toughness that a hero role requires in terms of shooting for more than 50 days, senior hero Rajasekhar wanted to shift to negative roles. Because villain roles demand less time, but get more attention and payment as well. On that note, Rajasekhar made the first move with Sharwanand’s Biker recently, where he slipped into a father’s role.
From a time, Rajasekhar expressed interest in playing a villain opposite the likes of Chiranjeevi and Prabhas. Finally, it looks like his pleas were heard by the industry and none other than Vijay Devarakonda has made the first move. While the team of the film Rowdy Janardhana were earlier in talks with Vijay Sethupathi, the Tamil star has declined to do the role despite being offered ₹20 crores remuneration for the same. Reportedly, Sethupathi is not even interested in negative roles these days, and that may be the reason. Finally, the team has now settled down for Rajasekhar.
Rajasekhar hasn’t done a pure negative-shaded role after the film “Talambralu” that came three decades ago. This new entry into the villain league where the likes of Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, SJ Suryah and other senior former heroes are sitting comfortably, would definitely give tough competition for Rajasekhar and vice-versa. This is the role he dreamt of, and hopes that he would do great justice to the villainy.
