Rajinikanth Makes History With Dubbed Coolie Event
Once, before every big film release, audio functions were the heartbeat of promotions. Then came the era of grand pre-release events.

In Tamil cinema, though, the old audio tradition still breathes. But Superstar Rajinikanths latest movie Coolie has gone a step further, hosting an event bigger and more stylish than both. Called Coolie Unleashed, it skipped the usual YouTube livestreams and channel feeds. Instead, Sun Pictures decided to air it exclusively on their Sun TV channel.
Heres the twist, the same Tamil event will now be shown to Telugu audiences. On August 15th at 9:30 pm, Gemini TV (part of Sun Network) will broadcast the program. This is no small thing; its rare for a Chennai-based Tamil event to be aired directly in Telugu. Many are calling it a first-of-its-kind move. Its like taking a party from one city and setting up the dance floor in another.
And they arent just showing the original. Music director Anirudh will perform Telugu numbers instead of his Tamil setlist. The speeches will be dubbed with Telugu voice-overs, making it feel like a native event. This has sparked jokes online, Weve seen movies dubbed in Telugu, but events too? Still, the buzz proves the teams deep focus on connecting with Telugu fans.
The Coolie craze here was already high. Rajinis name guarantees attention, but add Lokesh Kanagarajs mass direction, Nagarjuna as the villain, and Upendra in a special role, and you have a storm. The film hits theatres on August 14th, clashing with War 2. Some feel it wouldve been perfect if Rajini himself came to Hyderabad for a press meet. But for now, this translated celebration has done its job, the hype is real, and the excitement is peaking.
