By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2024 3:09 PM GMTRajinikanth, the iconic superstar, has found himself embroiled in controversy as copyright allegations swirl around the upcoming film 'Coolie', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The legal trouble stems from music composer Ilaiyaraaja, who alleges that the film's teaser illegally uses his music. Specifically, he points to the recreated version of his track 'Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa' from the film 'Thanga Magan', directed by Bharathiraja.
In response to queries from reporters at Chennai airport, Rajinikanth maintained a measured stance, stating that the issue lies between Ilaiyaraaja and producer Kalanithi Maran, effectively distancing himself from the conflict.
The controversy erupted shortly after director Lokesh Kanagaraj unveiled the title of his film 'Coolie', featuring Rajinikanth, through a promotional video that included a rendition of 'Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa'. Ilaiyaraaja promptly issued a legal notice to the film's makers, insisting on either obtaining his consent for using the song or removing it from the promotional material. Failure to comply, he warned, would result in legal action.
Amidst this legal tussle, Rajinikanth's daughter Aishwarya recently made waves online for showcasing her beachside residence, sparking a different kind of social media trend.
