There are several media reports in the national circuit claiming that a major chunk of Bollywood is absolutely devastated by the sharp Rise of the South Indian film industry and particularly Telugu film industry.

There have been several occasions of Bollywood stars, expressing discontentment with regard to the sharp price of the South Indian film industry. In one such related incident, Bollywood veteran Rakesh Roshan has expressed his venom on the South Indian cinema.

In his latest interaction with Media outlet, Rakesh pointed out that South cinema is very conventional with its choices, and doesn’t have the courage to try out new things. He noted that Bollywood is always pushing the boundaries, and that is the reason why there is a lot of risk involved and hence the low success rate.

However, this point made by the Bollywood veteran has very little credence. If Bollywood really is pushing the boundaries, so very much, then why does not even a single new age Bollywood film collect over ₹500 crore at the box office?

Of the very few successful films in Bollywood in recent past, only Jawan and Pathaan have worked big time. Notably, both these films are again in the commercial space and are to be Categorized in the same genre as South Indian films.

The important point to be noted here is that it is more essential to make films that are appealing the audience rather than trying out new genres and making styles just for the sake of it.

It is South Indian cinema that has been redefining commercial cinema at large, and this is an established fact. Regardless of the denial mode that Bollywood to finds itself in, this is a blatant fact and cannot be debated.

It is South Indian cinema, and more, particularly Telugu cinema that has been ruling the roost in Indian cinema. If anything Bollywood must start looking up to Telugu cinema rather than trying to bring down the hysteria created by the Telugu film industry, which serves no purpose for anyone.
