Ram Charan's Peddi Set To Be Telugu’s Costliest!
The OTT world is paying attention, too. Netflix has reportedly secured the streaming rights for a massive ₹105 to ₹110 crore
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 July 2025 12:07 PM ISTForget hype. The numbers alone are doing all the talking. Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi, directed by Uppena maker Buchi Babu Sana, is shaping up to be the most expensive Telugu film in recent memory. Set against a rural 1980s backdrop, the film dives into themes of sports, emotion, and pride. Charan plays a fierce village hero, a role that seems tailor-made for mass appeal with substance.
The production isn’t holding back. A life-sized replica of Vizianagaram town is being built near Hyderabad. We’re not talking just houses and a set. This includes roads, a railway station, and even a vintage-style sports stadium. Art director Avinash Kolla is leading the effort, with every brick designed to reflect the era. Insiders say the budget, originally around ₹250 crore, is already inching toward ₹300 crore, and it’s still climbing.
The OTT world is paying attention, too. Netflix has reportedly secured the streaming rights for a massive ₹105 to ₹110 crore, making it one of the highest OTT deals for a Telugu film. The platform is also said to be involved creatively with the film’s planning and marketing. The theatrical release is locked for March 27, 2026, timed with Ram Charan’s birthday, and expectations couldn’t be higher.
The cast adds more weight. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, joined by Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu Sharma. A.R. Rahman is composing the music and has already completed four tracks. With top names, massive sets, and serious money on the line, Peddi isn’t just another film. It’s a statement. Whether it lives up to it, we’ll find out in 2026. But for now, all eyes are on Vizianagaram, even if it’s a version built from scratch.
