Mega Powerstar Ram Charan’s Peddi has collected more than ₹400 crores at the box office, but that doesn’t mean all the distributors of the film are immediately in a safe zone. While the film’s local distributors in the Telugu states, mostly Mythri Movie Makers, are laughing all the way to the bank, Peddi’s overseas distributors are reeling from trouble. For the very same reason, Ram Charan took a great decision now, they say.

While Peddi’s producer Satish Kilaru wanted to release the film himself in the USA and other circuits, some distributors and buyers offered him upfront money and purchased the film at exorbitant prices. Guess what, the film’s overseas collection, despite making millions of rupees, is not going to mint even half of their investment. Some say that the Indian diaspora in the USA is currently reeling under pressure due to Trump’s policies, and students and the unemployed are not in the mood to carry the film on their shoulders due to these happenings. Also, the first-week ticket price of the film is $30, and the passes are also not enabled later. This led to a dent in collections for Peddi, big time.

Looking at all these things, Ram Charan, who was supposed to take home more than 35% of his promised ₹120 crores remuneration, is said to have forgone that balance payment. This is because the producer has to return some money to the Overseas buyers, and for that reason he’s said to have cancelled his balance payment from the producer. Currently, Charan is getting hailed for this move.
