RGV Taunts Bollywood! Says They Can’t Match Pushpa 2’s Brilliance
RGV revealed a shocking comment from a prominent Hindi film producer about Pushpa: The Rise.
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Feb 2025 3:39 PM ISTLike a storm that refuses to settle, Ram Gopal Varma has once again stirred up controversy with his bold opinions. Despite his last directorial Vyuham flopping at the box office and his cameo in Kalki 2898 AD barely making waves, the filmmaker has managed to grab headlines once more. This time, he’s taking a direct jab at Bollywood, claiming that no filmmaker in the industry can replicate the magic of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
In a recent interview, RGV revealed a shocking comment from a prominent Hindi film producer about Pushpa: The Rise. “When he saw Pushpa 1, he told someone I know, ‘North audiences will puke on this guy’s face,’” Varma stated, pointing out the industry’s deep-rooted biases. He further hinted that the producer preferred heroes who were “super good-looking” with six-pack abs, rather than rugged, massy characters like Allu Arjun’s Pushpa Raj. Now, with Pushpa 2 poised to be an even bigger phenomenon, RGV quipped, “He must be having nightmares after Pushpa 1 and 2.”
Taking his argument further, Varma stated that Bollywood directors lack the raw, rooted sensibilities that South filmmakers possess. “Most South directors can’t even speak English, they are very basic and connected. They don’t try to talk intellectually, they just understand the masses,” he remarked. According to him, this deep connection with the audience is something Bollywood struggles with, as its filmmakers remain confined to Bandra’s elite bubble, far removed from the pulse of the masses.
With Pushpa 2 set to redefine commercial cinema, RGV’s words might just serve as a wake-up call for Bollywood. As audiences continue to embrace content from every corner of the country, the industry’s ability to evolve will determine its survival.
