Ram Gopal Varma, the director who thrives on controversy, once again finds himself in the middle of a storm. Recently, he was spotted at the show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa alongside Sandeep Reddy Vanga, where he entertained with his unusual mix of arrogance, honesty, and even sharp comedy timing. Yet, before the applause could settle, trouble has knocked at his door once more.
The Rayadurgam police in Hyderabad have booked a case against the filmmaker following a complaint filed by retired IPS officer Anjana Sinha. The problem goes back to Dahanam, a web series made by RGV Productions and directed by Agastya Manju. It came out on April 14, 2022, and it talks about the fight between feudalists and Maoists. The story is about the killing of a communist leader and how his son seeks revenge. To add weight, RGV had claimed that the story was based on real events narrated by a retired IPS officer.
That claim, however, has triggered the latest legal trouble. Anjana Sinha has strongly denied ever narrating any such incidents. In her complaint, she stated that her identity was used without her permission and that the series created a misleading impression. She expressed her anger at the alleged misuse of her name and image, saying it unfairly linked her to a story she had no role in. Acting on this, the police have registered a case and have begun their investigation into the matter.
For RGV, the pattern is familiar, laughter on stage, applause for his fearless nature, and then, almost immediately, a new controversy ready to drag him into headlines. His career has been defined by bold cinema on one side and constant run-ins with critics, censors, and now legal complaints on the other. Whether the current case grows into a full-fledged battle or ends quietly, it proves once again that Ram Gopal Varma is not just a filmmaker. He is a storm that refuses to settle, a personality who can never escape the chaos he creates or attracts.
