It is already known that Bollywood is currently working on the cinematic adaption of Hindu mythological epic of Ramayan, which holds a significant position in the Hindu culture. This film is currently being shot on a huge scale, and an introductory video has been released to publicise the same.

Ramayana is a huge two-part live-action movie based on the ancient Indian epic. The story is set 5,000 years ago and is respected by over 2.5 billion people worldwide. This movie is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios along with DNEG, an Oscar-winning VFX studio.

It is also being made in association with actor Yash’s production company, Monster Mind Creations. The film is being made for IMAX and will release worldwide Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

The makers have shared the first glimpse of this epic universe with the launch of Ramayana: The Introduction. This special reveal was celebrated in a grand way with fan screenings in nine cities across India and a huge billboard display in Times Square, New York. This shows the global vision of the project.

The cast includes some of India’s biggest stars. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama. Yash, who is also the co-producer, plays Ravana. Sai Pallavi plays Sita. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey will be seen as Lakshmana.

Producer Namit Malhotra says this film is not just about retelling the story — it is about presenting India’s culture and legacy to the world using modern technology and emotional storytelling.

It is being publicised that the film is going to be a modern adoption of the epic mythology of Ramayana, and it is going to be a big challenge to balance between the mythological effect and the modern cinema making technique.
