There were doubts about whether the film would impress audiences, especially after the disappointing response to Prabhas' Adipurush. Adipurush was made with huge expectations, but its poor visual effects and execution disappointed many movie lovers. Since both films are based on the same epic, some people were unsure whether Ramayana could create a strong impact.
However Ramayana has surprised everyone with its opening response. The film is receiving good appreciation not only in Hindi but also in the Telugu states. The movie opened on a decent note in Telugu, but its collections improved significantly with the evening shows. The weekend is also expected to be strong.
The biggest reason behind this positive response is the film's impressive visual effects. The makers have spent a huge amount on the VFX work to present the epic story on a grand scale. Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, in association with producer Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, worked on the visual effects.
Several scenes have become major highlights of the film. The Jatayu fight sequence, the opening episode and the climax scenes are receiving special appreciation from audiences. These sequences give viewers a grand cinematic experience and make the story more engaging.
The performances have also helped the film. Yash has impressed audiences with his powerful performance as Ravana. His screen presence and powerful appearance are among the major attractions. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi have also received a decent response for their performances.
However, the music has not received the same level of appreciation. Many viewers have expressed disappointment with the songs composed by AR Rahman. The lengthy runtime is another factor that some audiences may not like.
Director Nitesh Tiwari has presented the epic on a massive scale with Namit Malhotra producing the film.
Interestingly, Ramayana has managed to overcome the doubts created by Adipurush. Both films tell the same epic story but the difference in visual effects and presentation has changed the audience's experience. So it's always in presentation that makes a story hit.
