For anyone expecting the ultimate face-off right away, here’s a surprise. There is no Lord Rama vs Lord Ravana clash in the upcoming Ramayana, being directed by Nitish Tiwari of Dangal fame. The film has Ranbir Kapoor playing. Lord Rama, while KGF star Yash will be seen as Lord Ravana. So, why is there no clash between Rama and Ravana in an epic that’s known for its clashes?

This has now been indirectly confirmed by Yash, who is playing Ravana in the film. During a recent interaction in Los Angeles, he revealed that he hasn’t even met Ranbir Kapoor on sets yet. The reason is simple, they don’t share scenes in this Part 1 of the film that will hit cinemas in November 2026. That gives a clear hint about the structure. Part 1 is not about the war. It’s about the build-up. Which means the makers are taking a very calculated approach in setting up the world, the characters, and the emotions, before jumping into the epic confrontation. The actual Rama vs Ravana moments are being reserved for Part 2.

Currently, Part 2 shoot is happening in Los Angeles, and the scale of the production is said to be massive. This is easily one of the most ambitious Indian films ever attempted, both in terms of budget and visual design. Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman; that itself is a huge casting move. And the epic clash is what the audience look up to.

Addding to that, the film is being carved by Namit Malhotra, who owns Prime Focus and DNEG, the global VFX giant studios, so the quality will be stunning for sure.
