Rana Daggubati is one of the few South Indian actors to have made a strong footprint in North Indian cinema. Apart from being active in Telugu Cinema, he had also done multiple Bollywood films and knows the culture and working style in Mumbai.

In this context, Rana recently shared his views on the difference between South and North Indian cinema. He said that cinema in South India is more affordable, both for filmmakers and audiences.

In states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, making and releasing a movie can cost much less. A small movie can be made with ₹2 to ₹2.5 crore, and it can be released with just ₹1 crore more.

But in North India, especially in cities like Mumbai and Delhi, things are more expensive. Even a small movie needs ₹10 crore or more just for publicity and release. Because of these high costs, small and medium movies don’t get enough support. They run in theatres only for a few days and disappear quickly.

In the South, there are more theatres and a better system. This gives movies more time to reach the audience. It also helps different types of stories succeed, not just big hero films. Rana said South Indian studios also run many theatre chains, which helps control costs.

He believes this makes South Indian cinema stronger, more creative, and more open to all kinds of films. This might be debated by the Hindi folk to a limited degree, but what Rana said is an absolute fact, and simply cannot be denied
