Venkatesh Shocks His Fans Once Again with Rana Naidu Season 2

Venkatesh, the superstar affectionately called “Venky Mama” by his fans, surprised everyone two years ago by making his debut in a web series with Rana Naidu alongside his nephew Rana Daggubati. The first season was a pan-India release on Netflix and was a remake of the popular Hollywood TV series Ray Donovan.

The first season was a big shock for many Venkatesh fans. Some were disappointed by his bold and strong dialogue delivery and intimate scenes which were a dramatic departure from his usual family-friendly roles. Because of this many fans chose not to watch the complete season even though the story was quite interesting.

For Rana Naidu Season 2, the makers made a few tweaks. They reduced the number of bold scenes and strong language in response to the feedback from fans. This made the new season much less aggressive and more clean. However while the content might be less explicit, it fell weak in its story and character depth. Venkatesh’s role in particular seemed less important and somewhat neglected. His character was used more as a side note, adding little to the main plot. Venkatesh seemed to perform without much enthusiasm. This lead to growing complaints that the character fell flat. His look also appeared somewhat artificial, which further kept him from making a strong impact.

Rana Daggubati meanwhile stood out with a well-developed character, delivering a powerful performance. His role was much more dramatic and kept the story alive while Venkatesh fell into the background.

Overall Rana Naidu Season 2 was a weak follow-up especially for Venkatesh’s fans who were expecting much more from their superstar. The actor’s digital debut which initially seemed a bold and promising venture, is turning into a somewhat bitter memory for both him and his fans.
