Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film Ramayana is expected to have a different version for audiences in China. According to reports, the film will be released there with a runtime of around 166 minutes, which is about 33 minutes shorter than the version planned for India.

The Chinese version will reportedly be titled Ramayana: The Legend of the Prince. The shorter runtime is believed to be connected to the country’s strict film rules and censorship process. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the runtime difference or explained which scenes may be removed.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is one of the most highly anticipated Indian films. The movie features Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita. Yash is also part of the project and has an important role. Ravi Dubey is among the other actors associated with the film.

The story is based on the ancient Indian epic Ramayana. Because the film includes religious and mythological themes, its presentation may need changes to meet the rules followed by Chinese authorities. Reports suggest that certain devotional or supernatural elements could be examined during the censorship process.

The film’s release in China is also important for Bollywood because Indian movies have enjoyed strong popularity there in the past. Films such as PK, Dangal, Secret Superstar and Andhadhun performed well with Chinese audiences and helped Indian cinema build a large following in the country.

Relations between India and China had affected the release of Indian films in the market in recent years. If Ramayana gets a successful theatrical release, it could once again create interest in Hindi cinema among Chinese moviegoers.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from the makers regarding the Chinese cut. It is also unclear whether the shorter version will change the story or only remove selected scenes. With Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Yash leading the cast, Ramayana remains one of the biggest upcoming Indian films, and its international release is being watched closely by movie lovers.
