It's Official: Dhurandhar Star Moves To ‘Pralay’

One blockbuster and suddenly, everything around a star changes. After the success of Dhurandhar 2, the narrative around Ranveer Singh shifted overnight. From being questioned for his chocies and those flops he’s getting part of, he is now the sought after star in Bollywood. Of course, he’s the No.1 star too, with almost ₹4000 crores of success to his credit.

And with that came strong rumours too. It started doing the rounds that Ranveer is stepping away from previously committed projects, including Pralay. Add about creative differences with director Jai Mehta, the story just blew up exponentially. The Pralay team has now stepped in and shut it down clearly. Ranveer is very much part of the film. In fact, both he and debutant director Jai Mehta are actively working on it, with continuous discussions leading to a locked script. Pre-production is already moving at a brisk pace, and the plan is to begin shooting in August this year.

The team is talking about building a world that Hindi cinema hasn’t seen before. That’s a strong claim, especially for a debut director. But Jai Mehta isn’t exactly new to the film world. Having worked on projects like Scam 1992 and Lootere, as an assistant director to his father, the celebrated Hansal Mehta, surely Pralay is going to be bigger and better.

It looks like Don 3 is the only film that Ranveer Singh walked out of so far, and for other films, there is no clarity yet over what is happening. But Pralay is happening!
