Rashmika & Bollywood: Where’s It Going Wrong?
On its first Sunday, last week’s release “Cocktail 2” collected a whopping ₹16+ crore nett at the Indian box office.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 23 Jun 2026 10:40 AM ISTOn its first Sunday, last week’s release “Cocktail 2” collected a whopping ₹16+ crore nett at the Indian box office. However, on its first Monday (yesterday) the film witnessed a major crash but still ended up making around ₹6 crores nett. That took the total collection of the movie to ₹85 crores, and the one who has walked away with the major credit is the bikini-seductress Kriti Sanon, whose pictures and scenes from the movie theatre are going viral on social media now.
Despite the film making some noise, at least with its collections and Kriti Sanon’s bikini looks, many are wondering why the other heroine of the movie, Rashmika Mandanna, who played Diya Reddy in the movie, is not getting equal attention. Even Rashmika sizzled in revealing outfits and appeared quite ravishing in the movie. However, the role given to her is quite simple, and there’s nothing much she has to do in terms of complex emotions as well. Telugu fans of the actress say that Bollywood is not fully utilising Rashmika's talents, unlike in Telugu movies. While she was seen as a spicy siren in Pushpa 2, she was also seen as a fiery actress in The Girlfriend.
On the other hand, some Bollywood critics are pointing out that Rashmika is quite lucky in Bollywood that she’s part of many money-spinning movies. And they are also unhappy with the actress’ Hindi pronunciation, which is not sound native, but also sounds like some NRI. Looks like Bollywood folks are not going to accept Rashmika’s Hindi, like the way Telugu audiences humbly accepted her Telugu, though her Telugu is also not so interesting. Well, fame dictates everything, and as long as it is there, no matter how the performances are, Rashmika keeps ringing the bells.
