Most Happening Music Director Becomes Director!

These days, we are seeing many cinematographers and music directors becoming film directors. We are now seeing another new addition to this list in the form of the directorial debut of Ravi Barsur. For those don’t know about him, he is the musical genius behind KGF and Salaar.

The latest reports are suggesting that Ravi is becoming a film director now as he is making a rooted action film based on Karnataka traditions and here is a look into the story.

Ravi Basrur, widely known for his powerful background scores in blockbuster films like KGF and Salaar, has now made his directorial debut with the film Veera Chandra Hasa. The movie was released in theaters across Karnataka on April 18, 2025, and is scheduled to hit screens in Telugu on April 25, 2025.

Drawing inspiration from the Ashwamedha Parva of the Mahabharata, the film blends mythology with the rich cultural essence of Yakshagana, a traditional theatre form native to Karnataka. Veera Chandra Hasa is a unique attempt to bring classical storytelling and folk art into mainstream cinema.

Ravi Basrur has not only directed the film but also composed its music, which was always expected. This could be one of the ambitious efforts from the talented music director who is known for composing exhilarating background scores for action films.

It has to be seen if this film would turn out to be successful so that the director would take a switch and become a full-time director, henceforth.
