Sagar Promises Gritty Singareni Story, Shoot Starting Soon
A coal mine is a world of shadows and sweat, where men work under the earth while the sky feels far away.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 3 Oct 2025 11:26 AM ISTA coal mine is a world of shadows and sweat, where men work under the earth while the sky feels far away. Telugu actor Sagar, who first appeared in films in 2001 before becoming a household name on television, is now turning that hidden world into cinema. After his recent crime thriller The 100, he announced a pan-India film set against the backdrop of Singareni coal mines, a space rarely seen on screen.
The film is directed by Jeevan Reddy of George Reddy fame, known for bringing real struggles to the big screen. For Sagar, this story runs close to home, he belongs to a Singareni family and carries those memories into his work. The idea is not to create a glossy version of mining life but to show the sweat, the bonds, and the fight for survival that define it.
To bring this alive, the team is constructing large-scale sets with underground coal mine replicas. Talks are on to cast a popular star in a key role, along with actors from other film industries, making it a project with a truly pan-India vision. The makers want audiences to feel the dust in the air, the risk in every step, and the courage it takes to work in the mines.
Shooting begins in November, and the project already carries curiosity. For Sagar, it’s more than another role, it’s a chance to tell the story of people he grew up around. If The 100 showed his knack for thrillers, this film may show a deeper side of him, proving that some of the strongest stories come not from fantasy, but from the ground beneath our feet.
