“My Father’s Identity Is My Identity”: Roshan Meka

The Telugu movie Champion, with Roshan Meka as the lead actor and directed by Pradeep Advaitham, is set to release in theatres on 25th of this month. The trailer launch event was held in a grand manner on Thursday night and created strong buzz among movie lovers.

The film is presented by Zee Studios and jointly produced by Swapna Cinema, Aanandi Art Creations, and Concept Films. Anaswara Rajan plays the female lead. Set in the year 1938, the story is closely linked to the history of Byranpalli village and revolves around the game of football. From the trailer, it is clear that Champion is made as a classic sports drama. The film blends action, emotions, patriotism, and rich visuals. Many are calling it a small-scale Telugu version of Lagaan.

Mega Power Star Ram Charan, who attended the event as the chief guest, praised the team wholeheartedly. He said, "When I saw Roshan in the poster, he looked like a European action hero. I truly wish that Champion becomes a massive success for Roshan, just like Magadheera was for me."

Hero Roshan Meka spoke emotionally at the event. He said, "When I asked my father to come for this event, he first said no and told me that I should earn my own individual identity. But for me, my father’s identity is my identity." Roshan also shared, "It has been many years since I did a film like this. This movie tells the story of our Telugu history and the brave people of Byranpalli. I will always be thankful to director Pradeep for giving me the role of Michael Williams."

Director Nag Ashwin also praised the film, saying, "This film has been made with great care and dedication. Pradeep is bringing an important and powerful story to the screen."

With patriotism, sacrifice, and sports at its core, Champion has raised expectations. How well it connects with audiences will be known on 25th.
