One such battle being fought by Saif, along with his mother Sharmila Tagore and sisters, is regarding a 16+ acres land parcel and an ancestral palace in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The case has been pending for nearly 25 years, and dates back to 1998 when Akeel Ahmed and a group of associates approached the court, claiming that they own the land. The petitioners claimed that the property was gifted in 1936 by Nawab Hamidullah Khan, a prominent member of the former Bhopal royal family, to their ancestors. However, the Court felt that these petitioners lacked any credible evidence to support their claims.
The court has rejected the claim in its entirety, saying that the lack of documentary evidence and inordinate delay in initiating legal proceedings have made it strike the petition. The court observed that the petitioners failed to produce authentic records or legally valid proof to establish that the land was gifted to them as claimed. This judgment gives major relief to Saif Ali Khan, as his family will now inherit the whole of the property.
On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan is busy with a series of films, including Go Goa Gone 2 and other projects, while he made his first Telugu appearance last year with Jr NTR’s Devara movie.
