Salaar's Release Date twist, Affecting Sankranti Films

The postponement of the highly anticipated film Salaar, originally scheduled for September 28th, has sent ripples throughout the film industry, triggering a domino effect of release date changes. Overseas distributors for Salaar found themselves scrambling to adjust their plans as premieres were called off.

While an official release date for Salaar remains unconfirmed, makers of Sankranti releases are now taking a proactive stance, declaring their intent to stand their ground. They want to convey that they won't shift their release dates to accommodate Salaar.

With Salaar potentially arriving on December 22nd, it has created a complicated situation for other filmmakers, such as those behind Venkatesh's Saindhav and Nani's Hi Nanna, who had originally planned Sankranti releases.

Some Christmas releases are even considering a Sankranti release in response, hoping that current Sankranti releases will be postponed. As a result, existing Sankranti release dates are being reaffirmed. For instance, Vijay Devarakonda's VD13, produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, announced that 50% of the shoot is complete and they intend to release it during Sankranti.

Similarly, Eagle is following suit, with their Ravi Teja starrer set to hit screens on January 13th, 2024. Expect more such announcements in the coming days as the film industry adjusts to these changes.
