Ameesha Patel Claps Back at Salman & Rashmika’s 31-Year Age Gap!

By: Tupaki Desk | 4 April 2025 2:22 PMThe age difference between leading actors and actresses has always been a point of discussion, but in recent times, it has become meme material. From Ravi Teja and Bhagyashree Borse in Mr. Bachchan to the latest Sikander, the Internet never misses a chance to highlight this trend. Recently, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s paired with Rashmika Mandanna in Sikander has become the latest hot topic, as the duo shares a staggering 31-year age gap. Social media is abuzz with criticism, but some industry insiders, including actress Ameesha Patel, have come forward to defend this long-standing practice.
Ameesha Patel, who recently starred in Gadar 2 opposite Sunny Deol, addressed the issue by recalling her own experience. "I have also worked with heroes much older than me. Sunny Deol and I have a 20-year age difference, yet our chemistry was appreciated, and Gadar 2 became a blockbuster. If the audience loves the on-screen pairing, age shouldn't matter. The same is happening with Salman and Rashmika in Sikander," she stated, adding that the film’s success proves that the content resonates with viewers.
Salman Khan himself addressed the controversy during Sikander's trailer launch, dismissing the age-gap criticism with his trademark wit. “Why do you have a problem when neither the heroine nor her father has one? If Rashmika gets married and has a child, she will also become a big star. We will act together again, and even then, I will take her permission as a mother,” he remarked, shutting down the debate in his own style.
Despite recurring discussions about older male leads romancing younger actresses, the trend seems unlikely to change anytime soon. As long as films continue to perform well at the box office and audiences accept the pairings, filmmakers will likely continue casting based on stardom rather than age compatibility.
