Whenever a film clicks, many follow the same path. When Rangasthalam clicks, everyone makes rural dramas. After Kantara, we saw many rural-fantasy films coming. Following #OG, many stylish action films are coming. So how would Samantha’s success with this film motivate Tollywood right now?
When Anushka’s Arundhati clicked, many thought that female-centric spiritual horror films would click, and many came. However, the next big hit has come only with Keerthy Suresh’s Mahanati. In between and later on, both Anushka and Keerthy haven’t scored big with a single female-centric movie. Now that Samantha has scored one with an action-packed role in Maa Inti Bangaram, many heroines might try it. However, it’s the rest of the engagement that actually works. Because from Kajal Aggarwal to Jyothi Poorvaj, many have done action-packed films, but nothing worked. The success of Maa Inti Bangaram doesn’t guarantee that such films will work now at the Box Office.
The success of Maa Inti Bangaram is surely good for the industry because it has followed up well with Peddi’s ₹400 crore box office haul, with a nearly ₹45 crore blockbuster success. But then, thinking that female-centric action films will work big time now, will be a bad move. Because anything will click when the content is engaging and promoted well. And anything opposite of this will fail.
