Ace director of movies like Kabir Singh and Animal, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is not just focusing on Spirit with Superstar Prabhas. He is quietly expanding his space as ‘only’ producer, too. While all the films he carved out so far are also his own production ventures, this time he’s just producing a film rather than directing it.

Under his Bhadrakali Films banner, Sandeep is backing a new film titled Romanchikam. The shoot is already in progress, and it stars ‘Memu Famous’ fame Sumanth Prabhas in the lead, while directed by a newcomer, Venu. From what we hear, it is set in rural Telangana and revolves around a youthful romantic drama.

In Telugu cinema, some directors have successfully transitioned into production. Sukumar is a strong example. With Sukumar Writings, he backed films that worked both commercially and content-wise. At the same time, not everyone managed to sustain that balance. Many directors, like Sampath Nandi and Trinadha Rao Nakkina, tried their hand at production but struggled to pick the right projects or maintain consistency. Sandeep has a very strong understanding of storytelling and audience pulse. Films like Arjun Reddy showed how he connects with youth. Backing a rooted, romantic drama like Romanchikam fits into that sensibility. But if the director understands things like budgeting, casting, release strategy, and market positioning, surely he is going to make it big.
