As Sankranti 2026 approaches, the box office battle in Tollywood is getting bigger and bigger and more competitive too.

While top stars like Prabhas and Chiranjeevi are spearheading with films like Raja Saab and Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu, Raviteja has Bhartha Mahaseyulaku Wignyapthi coming up on Sankranthi eve. A group of young heroes like Sharwa and Naveen are also coming up with movies like Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Anaganana Oka Raju, respectively.

Guess what, smaller films are adopting a bold strategy to challenge their dominance with lower ticket prices. According to trade buzz, films starring these younger stars are intentionally pricing tickets lower in many regions, especially in single screens and mass centres. The idea behind this tactical move is to attract budget-conscious audiences, including families and youth, who might otherwise choose big star films.

With Sankranti holiday crowds expected to fill theatres, this pricing strategy could help smaller films create strong footfalls and compete more effectively against the festive season’s biggies.

Traditionally, movies featuring stars like Prabhas and Chiranjeevi command premium ticket rates, especially in premium screens and multiplexes. Though government approval is yet to come, the makers of these movies are opting for massive ticket hikes.

While these big films are expected to open strong, trade analysts are saying that the lower ticket prices can significantly improve overall seat occupancy for other releases. In essence, this approach is designed to share audience attention rather than lose it outright.
