Bollywood Remake Of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam Gets Hero Announcement?

The blockbuster Telugu hit Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, starring Victory Venkatesh, seems to be the next one heading for a Bollywood makeover. The film, directed by Anil Ravipudi, turned into a festival favorite earlier this year and became one of the few Telugu films to cross the 300-crore mark worldwide. Now, the buzz is that Bollywood’s own action hero Akshay Kumar is set to lead its Hindi version.

Akshay Kumar is no stranger to South remakes. From Rowdy Rathore to Holiday, Laxmii, and Sarfira, he has recreated several South hits for Hindi audiences. While a few worked big, others didn’t find the same magic. Yet, this time, the team believes the emotional core and family appeal of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam could click nationwide if adapted right. The Hindi version is reportedly being titled Sankranthiki Yatra for now, and Akshay plans to bring his trademark energy and humor into the character originally played by Venkatesh.

The film is said to revolve around a husband, wife, and ex-girlfriend caught in a hilarious yet heartfelt mix of relationships and misunderstandings. Known for balancing emotion with entertainment, Anil Ravipudi’s style seems to have impressed Akshay enough to consider the remake seriously. Though the director for the Hindi version hasn’t been finalized, Dil Raju, who backed the original, is expected to handle the production once again.

For Akshay, this project could arrive at a crucial time. His recent remakes like Sarfira and Laxmii didn’t perform well at the box office.
