Sankranthi 2026: Some Braking Needed ASAP!
Prabhas’s The Raja Saab is expected to arrive on January 9, followed by Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu on January 12.
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Oct 2025 8:35 PM ISTThe upcoming Sankranti 2026 season is going to be a jam packed one for the South Indian box office as we have multiple films arriving at the ticket counters. Several superstars are preparing their films for release this festival season, which looks set to witness a mega clash of big proportions.
The upcoming Sankranti 2026 season is gearing up for an intense box office clash, with nearly seven films targeting the festive release window. The list includes major stars like Prabhas, Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja, Sharwanand and Naveen Polishetty, each aiming to dominate the holiday collections.
Prabhas’s The Raja Saab is expected to arrive on January 9, followed by Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankar Varaprasad Garu on January 12. Ravi Teja’s and Sharwanand’s films are also eyeing mid-January slots, setting the stage for a heated battle.
However, industry experts point out that such overcrowding may backfire. With a limited number of screens, especially in B and C centres, not every movie can get a wide release or sustain long runs. While big star films are sure to draw initial crowds, smaller ones might struggle for visibility and theatre availability.
Trade circles suggest that one or two producers might need to reconsider their dates to avoid unnecessary losses. Sankranti is traditionally the most lucrative season for Telugu cinema, but too many releases can dilute profits for everyone. The situation has now turned into a test of confidence and strategy, as everyone waits to see who will step back and who will stay in the battle.
